Message from the Commanding Officer

Lt(N) Angus Patten CD
Welcome to the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Iron Duke,
The Sea Cadet program is a joint program between the Department on National Defence and the Navy League of Canada.
It is a national program for young Canadians aged 12 to 18 who are interested in participating in a variety of fun, challenging and rewarding activities while learning about the Sea activities of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. They make valuable contributions to Canadian society on a daily basis in terms of environmental, citizenship and community activities.
Cadets also learn valuable life and work skills such as teamwork, leadership and citizenship.
Iron Duke has advantages other corps don’t have, on top of the regular program we run a music and summer sail program. Our building is set up for more in depth seamanship instruction and is able to support overnight exercises, music and range programs.
Our staff is a group of Reserve Officers supported by Civilian Volunteers, all of who are experienced in running the program, and have been subjected to security screening.
The program itself is set up so that cadets in the first couple of years learn the skills and behaviors of a cadet. The following years are focused on leadership and instructional technique with qualified cadets running a lot of the day to day instruction and operation of the corps. There is also a summer camp portion to the program that gives the cadet multiple avenues of training culminating in the successful cadet getting a staff position.
We are located at 451 Elizabeth Street, on the south east corner of Elizabeth and James Streets, we parade Wednesday evenings, during the school year, from 1815 to 2130. So either visit, telephone at (905) 634-2056 or email us at ironduke65@gmail.com. It is worth checking us out.
